Positive Displacement Air Compressors

This type of air compressor works through producing very high-pressure discharge. It converts the angular momentum, which is imparted by the dynamic displacement. The centrifugal air compressor is a supertype of air compressors. The centrifugal air compressor is superior due t the fact that they rotate at a very high speed than the others producing high pressure. They are designed for higher capacity.
This is a type of a dynamic air compressor which functions by using orbiting and stationary spirals that reduces the volume of space between them. The orbiting spirals also traces the path of the fixed spirals.Its gaseous intake occurs at the outer edge of the compressor, where the compressed gas is released near the center.
This type of air compressor has the highest capacity of delivered air. The volume ranges from over 8000 to 13 million cfm and is used in industrial machines. Unlike the centrifugal compressors, the axial compressors have very many stages and compress air at very low compression ratios.Axial compressors increase the pressure of the gas by first increasing its velocity.
